What We Do

Echelon seeks to mobilize the next generation for The Salvation Army by providing opportunities for young adults to engage with the organization through fellowship and networking, donations and fundraising, and service and volunteering.

The Echelon SF Chapter serves in a number of different way here in San Francisco:

Homelessness - The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center serves those who are homeless and in need of recovery. Echelon members serve breakfast, distribute toiletries, and serve the homeless community through the ministry of presence. Members help at The Harbor Light center at least 10 times a year.

At-Risk Youth - The Salvation Army in San Francisco serves children through a variety of different avenues. They help with back-to-school supplies, toys and clothes at Christmas, afterschool tutoring and needed low cost day care facilities. Echelon SF has an annual fundraiser that raises money for Christmas toys for Bay area kids in need. Members ring bells during the Christmas season, and generate funds for the Harbor Light Christmas efforts to the children 5 and under. They also volunteer and help with the Salvation Army's annual back-to-school event.

Networking and PR - The Salvation Army San Francisco Echelon Chapter has a number of social networking events a year. They hope to connect with other young professionals in the city, and grow the Echelon Chapter. It is the goal that we help to tell the story of The Salvation Army to young professionals who are just starting on their philanthropic and volunteer journey.
